Tourism, study, family and work are different. Do not choose a category simply because it looks easier. Planned activities must fit the chosen route.
Read official instructions
Use the Visa for Italy portal and the responsible diplomatic office for requirements and documents. A list for another nationality or country of residence may not fit you.
Check elective residence separately
Examine financial means, housing and permitted activities. It is not a general work permission or something automatically obtained by buying a home.
An imagined example
Someone plans to live on their own means while continuing to work. Before choosing a visa, they must check whether both plans fit that category.
Entry and stay are separate stages
A visa does not automatically guarantee admission at the border. Longer stays may need later formalities, deadlines and a residence document. Prepare before travelling; distrust promises of guaranteed approval.
